Corvallis Skipper Brooke Knight to Manage WCL West Team

Seven Knights Selected to Play in 2012 WCL All-Star Game.

Seven members of the Corvallis Knights and the team's coaching staff have been selected to participate in the West Coast League All-Star Game, scheduled for Tuesday night at Borleske Stadium in Walla Walla.

Catcher Austin Barr (Camas High/Stanford); outfielders Nate Blackham (Washington State) and Connor Hofmann (Oregon); third baseman Caleb Whalen (Portland), and pitchers Devon Barker (Centralia College), Jorge Perez (Grand Canyon) and Rob Dittrick (Pacific University) will represent the Knights on the 21-member West Division team.

Brooke Knight of Corvallis will coach the West, assisted by pitching coach Connor Lambert. Knights' assistant coach Andy Jenkins has a previous commitment, so Knight will choose an alternate from another West Division club as his second assistant. The Corvallis coaches were selected because their team is in first place at the time of announcing the league's all-stars.

Whalen and Hofmann were selected by the MLB Scouting Bureau, as the Bureau picks 12 must-see prospects for the WCL showcase. Whalen is hitting .265, with no homers and a team-high 18 RBIs. Hofmann is hitting .250, with two RBIs and nine steals. He was a 16th-round draft pick of the San Diego Padres in 2010 and is draft-eligible in 2013.

Blackham (pictured) is hitting .325 with no homers, nine RBIs and 11 steals. Barr is hitting .328, with a team-high two homers and 14 RBIs. Both of his home runs were grand slams.

Barker is 3-0 with a 1.74 ERA and two saves in nine appearances, with 21 strikeouts in 20.2 innings. Perez leads the WCL with a 1.24 ERA and is 2-2 in five starts, with 17 strikeouts in 29 innings.

Dittrick received more than 90,000 votes and won the Knights' fan voting. He is 3-1 with a 1.54 ERA, third-best in the WCL. He has 19 strikeouts in a team-high 35 innings.
