August 22, 2008Five Knights Earn First-Team Honors
12 Corvallis Knights were All-WCCBL selections as announced by WCCBL president Ken Wilson on Thursday, August 21.
Five Knights were first-team picks including ace senior-to be southpaw Jared Eskew of Cal Poly (pictured); outfielder Logan Lotti, a junior-to be at Oregon State; team leader Alex Burg, a senior-to be catcher at Washington State; hard throwing lefty and sophomore-to be Josh Osich of Oregon State and closer Taylor Starr, a sophomore-to be at Oregon State.
Seven Knights were named second-team All-WCCBL including infielders Doug Cherry of UW, Richie Jimenez of RCC and Josh Hogan of Mt. Hood CC/Oregon; utility man Billy Clontz of Mt. Hood CC/Western Oregon and starting pitchers Jon Berger of San Diego State and UC Riverside right-handers Eddie Orozco and Ryan Platt.
Two Knights earned All-WCCBL honorable mention - outfielder Adam Melker of Cal Poly and first baseman Dean Green of Oklahoma State.

Lotti led the team in hitting (.340), homeruns (5), RBI (25) and on base percentage (.440). Burg tied for the team lead in doubles with 12, threw out 21 of 44 would be base stealers and masterfully managed the league's top pitching staff. Osich went 5-0 to lead the team in wins and recorded a 1.96 ERA while striking out 52 over 46 innings pitched. Eskew posted a league low 1.32 ERA. Overall, Eskew went 4-0 with a miniscule 0.99 ERA while striking out 46 over 45 2/3 innings pitched. Starr led the WCCBL in saves with 8 and the Knights in appearances with 21. Starr posted a 2.49 ERA and finished with 10 saves as the sophomore-to be from Longview, Washington earned two key postseason saves.
