The Knights and the Pilots have a long history as University of Portland has been a partner school since 1997. Such Pilot greats as Brian Graham, Justin Ballweber, Mike Stewart, Matt Allen, Travis Hanson, Jesse Rodgers, Rocky Gale, Bryant Kraus, Kyle Kraus, Chris Johnson, Kramer Scott, Caleb Whalen, Cody Lenahan and Michael Lucarelli have excelled with the Knights.
Loomis coached the Knights from 2000-2004. He also played with the team from 1996-1998 following a professional career in the Oakland A's organization.
Coach Loomis' built a championship caliber program at Pacific Lutheran, and established a partnership with the Knights from the get go. He placed key contributors with Corvallis like Max Beatty, Corey Moore and Chris Bishop; all of the aforementioned helped lead the Knights to two WCL titles.
