Corvallis Catcher Ryan Gorton of OSU Named WCL Player of the Week.

Corvallis catcher Ryan Gorton of Oregon State homered in both games of the WCL Championship Series to lead the Knights to their second WCL title.

Gorton went 2-for-3 with a double, homer and 3 RBIs in the Knights 14-3 game one victory at Borleske Stadium in Walla Walla.

In game two of the finals, Gorton delivered the game-winning hit, blasting a three-run homer in the bottom of the first to give the Corvallis Knights the 3-2 lead over the Sweets at Goss Stadium.

Gorton (pictured, #27, following his three-run homer) would also single twice, steal a base and collect 4 RBIs in the Knights' 11-4 series clinching win.

For the WCL Championship Series, the senior-to-be from Tigard, Oregon went 5-for-8 with two home runs and 7 RBIs.

During the regular season, Gorton hit .301 with 4 doubles and 18 RBIs. Ryan made starts at first base, third base, designated hitter, catcher and in the outfield for the Knights.

Ryan was a member of the Knights' grounds crew before joining the team on July 5.

This was Gorton's second appearance in the WCL Championship Series as Ryan was also a key contributor, as a pitcher, for the 2009 WCL champion Wenatchee AppleSox.
