Mountaineers Win the Pacific Northwest League Invitational

Gresham Mountaineers Capture Second Tournament Title.The Gresham Mountaineers did its parent club proud as the expansion Mountaineers, who play its home games at Mt. Hood CC, finished 28-8 and won two tournaments in its first season. The Mountaineers most recent conquest took place at Clackamas Community College as Gresham swept through the Pacific Northwest League Invitational August 2-4. In mid-July, the Mountaineers charged through the loser's bracket of the NW Star Academy Invitational to capture its first championship of the summer.

Gresham plays an independent schedule and has done battle with traditional WCCBL powers the Bend Elks, Corvallis Knights and Wenatchee AppleSox. The Mountaineers beat the Elks at the start of the season.

The team is coached by ex-Knights Bryan Donohue, James Allan and Jesse Rodgers. Allan and Rodgers are recent graduates of University of Portland and Donohue is a George Fox alum.

The Knights #1 fan, Bill Kerr, is the team's General Manager.
