The Corvallis Knights jack of all trades, Brian Brooks, was named the team's Staff Member of the Year by Team President Dan Segel on Wednesday. Brooks, who runs The Brooks Group and is the Managing Editor of the Oregon State Official Sports Report, acts as the club's Advertising Manager and also is the Knights' Public Address Announcer and Audio Entertainment Director.
"Brian's diligence and strategic direction were critical to our success last season," said Segel. "His advertising mix and creative input elevated our awareness in the area and got people to the park."
"While we considered deserving candidates like Stro Strohmeyer, Doug Blair, all the coaches, Bre Kerkvliet, Marisa Gorman, Casey Grogan, Ron Northcutt and Zach Baker, Brian was this year's pick as he juggled so many responsibilites so effectively. He's a worker, and he works smart. Brian gets it, and we appreciate that," stated Segel.
Corvallis Knights total attendance increased from 17,929 in 2008 to 30,064 in 2009. The Knights averaged 911 per game and set a team, West Coast League and Goss Stadium single-game attendance record on July 3rd with a standing room only crowd of 3,506.
Brooks joins previous honorees Stro Strohmeyer (2008) and Holly Jones (2007) as Staff Member of the Year selections. Strohmeyer is the team's Director of Ballpark Operations and Jones was the Knights' Assistant to the General Manager in 2007.
The Brooks Group is a marketing firm based in Corvallis, Oregon.
