The Corvallis Knights kick-off their 2016 West Coast League season tonight in Bend vs. the WCL defending champion Elks at Vince Genna Stadium.Corvallis will start junior southpaw Trenton Dupre of Washington State this evening in the opener.
First pitch is 6:35 pm. You can listen to the game on KEJO 1240 AM, the Knights flagship station. Mike Parker, the voice of the Knights, calls all the action.
The Knights probable starter for Saturday is Chris Carns of Clark College. On Sunday, Aaron Pope of Dixie State (pictured) will take the mound for skipper Brooke Knight.
Corvallis hopes to rebound against their long-time rivals as the Knights dropped 10 of 11 games versus the Elks last season.
Roman Garcia of San Diego and Greg Saenz of Grand Canyon will man the corner infield spots this weekend at first base and third base, respectively.
Matt Kelly of Portland and Adam Taylor of Concordia will anchor the middle infield.
Future UW Husky Nick Kahle and Andrew Reichenback of George Fox will handle the catching duties, while the outfield will be made up of Cody Hawken of Portland, Taylor Travess of Mt. Hood CC, Caleb Smith of Linn-Benton CC and Parker Woodley of Clark College.
