Ex-Knight Bobby Scales Gets Much Deserved Promotion

The Chicago Cubs called up former Knights' star Bobby Scales from AAA Iowa this morning (Monday, May 4). Scales was hitting .303 (76 at bats) with 5 doubles, 3 home runs and 10 RBI for Iowa.This is Bobby's 11th season of professional baseball and sixth in AAA (including three years with the Portland Beavers).
He's played in the Padres, Phillies, Red Sox and Cubs organizations.
His first big league activation comes following appearances in 1,013 minor league games.
The switch-hitting utility man turned in his best season as a pro last summer with Iowa hitting .320 with 20 doubles, 15 home runs and 59 RBI.
Bobby starred for the 1997 Knights and led the team in batting with a .379 average.
He was picked in the 14th round of the 1999 MLB draft by San Diego after a successful college career at University of Michigan.
The Corvallis Knights are thrilled that Bobby is living his dream and are confident he'll show the Cubs how valuable he is as a player, teammate and role model.
Bobby is a true pro and very deserving of this exciting promotion to the big leagues.
