Former Knights' Reliever Jimmie Sherfy Named Preseason All-American.

Former Corvallis Knights' reliever Jimmie Sherfy (pictured) of the University of Oregon has been named a first-team preseason All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
A junior from Camarillo, Calif., Sherfy played on the 2011 West Coast League championship club. He was 1-0, 1.83 in 14 games, with 23 strikeouts in 19.2 innings.
Sherfy earned multiple All-America honors as an Oregon sophomore in 2012 after finishing with 19 saves and a 2.20 ERA. The right-hander earned first-team ABCA/Rawlings All-America recognition; was named a second-team All-America by the NCBWA, Baseball America and Perfect Game, and third-team honors from Louisville Slugger.
Jimmie was also a NCBWA Stopper of the Year finalist and earned first-team Pacific-12 Conference all-league honors after leading the league in saves.
Sherfy set an Oregon record with 19 saves while finishing with a 5-3 record in 36 games. He struck out 93 hitters in 61.1 innings, an average of 13.6 strikeouts per nine innings pitched, and held opponents to a .172 batting average.
