May 5, 2013Redshirt Junior Right-Hander Signs with Knights; Set to Return for Fourth Summer
Corvallis Knights president Dan Segel announced the team's re-signing of Knights' veteran pitcher Max Beatty of Pacific Lutheran on Cinco De Mayo.
Beatty pitched for the club in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Max earned second-team All-West Coast League honors in 2011 and started the Knights' WCL Championship Series clincher vs. Walla Walla and appeared in the WCL All-Star Game that summer.
The redshirt junior from Vancouver, Washington was the team's staff workhorse in 2011 making 9 WCL starts while posting a 6-1 record and 2.42 ERA. Last summer, Max made 7 starts and went 2-1 with a 4.01 ERA.
If Max does not get drafted or sign with a professional team, he will be the first collegiate four-year Knight in franchise history.
