February 13, 2011Coach Knight's Perth Heat Win ABL Title
The Perth Heat of the MLB-funded Australian Baseball League (ABL) defeated the Adelaide Bite two games to one to capture the league's inaugural championship series.The Heat are led by Corvallis Knights skipper Brooke Knight.
Ex-Knight southpaw Liam Baron (pictured) is also a member of the team.
Baron finished game two, a 9-2 Heat win.
The entire series was played at the Heat's home field, Barbagallo Ballpark.
Adelaide won game one, but the Heat bounced back to crush the Bite winning in convincing fashion.
Perth beat the Bite 7-1 in the series finale making Knight and Baron champions once again.
Coach Knight and Baron won a title together in 2008 with the Corvallis Knights, Brooke's first season managing the Knights.
In his first year with the Heat, Knight captured an ABL title.
The Heat went 24-16 over the regular season, finishing second behind the Sydney BlueSox. Perth beat Sydney in the post-season to earn a berth in the ABL Championship Series.
Knight hopes to bring Corvallis its second West Coast League title in 2011.
Brooke was born and raised in Corvallis and graduated from Crescent Valley High School.
