Knights Reliever Trenton Dupre of Washington State Earns WCL Pitcher of the Week Honors.

Corvallis Knights pitcher Trenton Dupre of Washington State and first baseman Roman Garcia of San Diego, as announced by WCL president Donnie Marbut, were named WCL Pitcher of the Week and Player of the Week, respectively, for the week of Aug. 8-16.Garcia (pictured) and Dupre led Corvallis to their fourth WCL title, as Garcia delivered a clutch late-inning, two-run, game-winning homer this past Tuesday night in the Knights decisive 6-4 home win vs. Bellingham; and Dupre closed the finale out with a perfect 1 1/3 innings of relief to earn the save.
Dupre retired all 13 batters he faced in the West Coast League Championship Series while striking out 7 to register two saves. In the postseason, Dupre went 1-0 with 2 saves and did not allow a run over 3 appearances and 6.1 innings pitched while allowing two hits, a walk and striking out 8.
Garcia went 8-for-21 in the postseason with a double, homer and 6 RBIs.
During the regular season, Dupre went 3-0 with four saves and posted a 0.64 ERA over 13 appearances and 28 innings pitched. Garcia hit .287 with 2 homers and 23 RBIs; and he banged out a team-high 10 doubles. Both Dupre and Garcia were honorable mention all-WCL selections.
This past spring, Dupre made 23 appearances for the Cougars, and went 0-4 with three saves while posting a 6.69 ERA. Garcia batted .313 with 3 homers and 12 RBIs for the Toreros. Both Trenton and Roman will be seniors in 2017.
This is Garcia's second WCL Player of the Week honor on the season, as he was also named for the week of July 18-24. Four Knights earned WCL Player and Pitcher of the Week honors this summer including Garcia, Dupre, reliever Chris Burkholder of Dartmouth (Aug. 1-7) and shortstop Andy Atwood of Oregon State (June 13-19).
