August 30, 2011Perfect Game Crosschecker Ranks Corvallis #6 in Final Summer College Baseball Poll
The Knights late season surge and West Coast League title (team pictured after WCL Championship Series finale) caught the attention of Perfect Game Crosschecker, an online scouting service that covers high school and college baseball, as Corvallis was ranked #6 in PGC's final summer college baseball national poll released last week.The team's highest season-ending ranking was #5 in 2008.
The Knights finished the season with a 45-18 overall record and won the WCL West Division title for the fifth consecutive summer by posting a 37-17 WCL mark.
Corvallis beat Bend two games to one to advance to the WCL Championship Series where the Knights swept Walla Walla to capture its second WCL title.
The West Coast League is considered the premier summer collegiate baseball league west of the Mississippi, and competes for high caliber players with leagues like the Northwoods League, Coastal Plain League and New England Collegiate League.
Other top leagues are the Valley League, Cal Ripken Sr. League, Texas Collegiate League, Prospect League, Jayhawk League, MINK League, Great Lakes League, California Collegiate League, Atlantic Collegiate League, Western Major League, New York Collegiate League, Florida Collegiate League and Alaska League.
