Knights' Skipper to Head Down Under.
August 29, 2010Perth Heat of New MLB Australian Baseball League Hires Corvallis Manager Brooke Knight
Corvallis Knights head coach Brooke Knight was recently hired by the Perth Heat of the new Major League Baseball funded Australian Baseball League. Knight will manage the Heat from October through February.
Knight will return to the States following the season and be back for a fourth year with the Knights where he has led Corvallis to three WCL West Division championships and a West Coast League title.
With Knight at the helm, Corvallis has posted the league's best record for three consecutive seasons. Brooke has registered a 125-48 overall mark as the Knights' head coach and was named WCL Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2009.
Coaching in Perth will be a homecoming of sorts for Knight as the Corvallis native coached and played professionally in Australia from 1996-2000 and met his wife Karlie in Perth.
Perth native and ex-Knights' southpaw Liam Baron of Gonzaga will join Knight on the Perth Heat. Baron pitched for Corvallis in 2008 and 2009 and was named first-team All-WCL in 2009.
