Corvallis, Oregon, December 13, 2010 - Corvallis Knights president Dan Segel announced today that Reser's Fine Foods, based in Beaverton, Oregon, has signed on to be the title sponsor of the Oregon All-Star Series to be held June 18-19 at Goss Stadium on the campus of Oregon State University.
Reser's Fine Foods has a long history of supporting amateur athletics in the state and is also the title sponsor of the Reser's Wrestling Tournament of Champions held each January in Hillsboro, Oregon.
"Having Reser's involved is tremendous," said Knights' team president Dan Segel. "The Resers are serious about making a difference and will help turn this event into something special."
"We are excited to team up with the Knights to help make the All-Star Series a big deal again and to make a positive impact at this level," said Marty Reser of Reser's Fine Foods. "We believe something like this will enrich both the baseball community and its host community.
"We're pleased to be part of this and are committed to making this a premier event."
The All-Star Series thrived in The Dalles from 1971 through 2007 at Quinton Street Ball Park where players like Danny Ainge, Darwin Barney, Scott Brosius, Cole Gillespie, Kevin Gregg, Kevin Gunderson, John Jaha, Dale Murphy, Jonah Nickerson, Harold Reynolds and Rick Wise showcased their skills in front of enthusiastic crowds and where coaches and scouts gathered to watch baseball and share stories.
The Oregon High School Baseball Coaches Association announced last week that the Oregon High School Baseball 5A/6A All-Star Series is moving from McMinnville to Corvallis.
Beginning in 2011, the Oregon All-Star Series will be named the Reser's All-Star Series and the All-Stars will be outfitted in Nike head to toe.
Nike Team Sports has agreed to be the official supplier of uniforms, apparel, compression, headwear, equipment and footwear for the All-Star Series. Nike will also be hosting a Coaches Reception following Saturday's opener for all high school, youth and college baseball coaches attending the game.
The opening game of the inaugural Reser's All-Star Series is scheduled for Saturday, June 18. First pitch is slated for 6 pm. The final two games will be played on Sunday, June 19 as part of a doubleheader starting at 2 pm.
