Donahue smacks three hits in 12-9 loss to Bend Elks.

Christian Donahue (pictured) had three hits and Clay Fisher doubled, scored and drove in two for the Knights on Sunday in a 12-9, 11-inning loss to Bend at Goss Stadium.

Donahue (Oregon State) singled in his last three at-bats. Fisher (UC Santa Barbara) had an RBI double and a run-scoring fielders choice and was the lone Knight with more than one RBI.

The Knights were swept for the first time in 61 three- or four-game series at home since their 2007 relocation from Gresham. They also lost 5 of 6 on their homestand after starting the week on a four-game winning streak.

Back-to-back homers in the 12th inning scored four runs for the Elks, breaking an 8-8 tie. Dalton Hurd's three-run shot with two outs sent the Elks (12-3 WCL) up 11-8. Patrick Flynn followed with a solo shot, Bends third homer of the game and its sixth of the weekend. Bend scored 32 runs in the series.

The Knights (7-9 all, 6-9 WCL) scored once in the last of the ninth to force extra innings. They loaded the bases with no outs in the 11th but only scored once and dropped to 1-1 in extra-inning contests after the three-hour, 49-minute marathon.

Corvallis took a 7-4 lead into the ninth but the bullpen imploded as the Elks scored four times on one hit, two walks, two hit batsmen and two errors on the same play that scored the tying and go-ahead runs with two outs. The Elks hit one ball out of the infield in the comeback.

Sunday's crowd of 1,318 upped the season attendance to 14,912 in 10 dates. That puts the Knights 3,052 ahead of last year's total through a corresponding number of home openings.

The Knights are idle on Monday. They begin a six-game South Division road trip on Tuesday night with the opener of a three-game rematch series against Bend at Vince Genna Stadium. Righty Alex Nesbitt (0-0, 1.80) is the projected starter for Corvallis.

Corvallis heads to Medford on Friday for a weekend series with the Rogues at Harry & David Field. All six games will be broadcast on KEJO-AM 1240.
