Knights and Richey's Market play before Goss crowd of 582.

Corvallis GM Brooke Knight (pictured) presented Richey's Market GM Jeff Roy (pictured) two checks totaling $700 prior to the game. The Knights and the Corvallis Elks Charity Trust also honored Richey's sponsor Jack Richey (pictured) for his commitment to Corvallis American Legion at Richey's Night. And Richey's legendary coach Dick McClain threw out the first pitch.

582 fans saw Richey's take an early 1-0 lead, but the Knights rallied to win the non-league contest 8-1. Knights' team president Dan Segel presented Jeff Roy with the night's walkup gate towards the end of the game. With the cash donation, the Knights contributed $1,200 to Corvallis American Legion baseball on Richey's Night presented by the Elks Charity Trust. The Knights two check donations were on behalf of OSU Federal Credit Union and Elks Charity Trust.

Corvallis called up Trey Watt of Pacific Lutheran University from its affiliate club the Gresham Mountaineers to start Monday night's game. He threw six solid innings allowing only one run to earn the win.

"It was a great opportunity to pitch tonight," said Watt. "I love this team and this field. I'd love to play for the Knights next season."

The Knights offense came alive vs. Richey's as Corvallis banged out 13 hits. Brett Casey of OSU, a former Richey's star, led the way going 3 for 5 with a double. First baseman Jim Murphy of Washington State went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and catcher Erik Ammon of OSU collected 2 RBI in two plate appearances.

Jake Roy of Dakota Wesleyan, another former Richey's star, went 1 for 2 with a double and played outstanding defense. "It was fun tonight," said Jake. "It's great playing the old team you used to be on, but it's weird to be playing against the people who used to watch you play."

Knights' pitchers Mike Koons of San Diego State and Blake Keitzman of Oregon State pinch-hit late and both stroked singles. "It was amazing," said Koons of his flare to center. Koons batted in tonight's game for the first time since high school. "I had a lot of advice from Braden Wells. It's nice to play with a champion."

Pitcher JR Murphy of San Diego State also got a late at bat and played the ninth-inning in centerfield (and made a nice catch). "It was unexpected, but fun," said JR. "I'll be pitching on Thursday."

With the Knights win, Corvallis improves to 20-10 overall.

The Knights return to WCCBL play Tuesday night as Corvallis faces the Kelowna Falcons (6-15).

Southpaw Matt Way (3-0, 0.90) is slated to start the series opener vs. Kelowna.

Tuesday night is Canadian Night, eh.

The Knights are home for 8 games in 8 days. Game two of the home stand could be a hot one as temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees.
