Armendariz has double, four hits in loss at Bend.

First baseman David Armendariz (pictured) of Cal Poly was 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Corvallis but the Elks won 12-3 to clinch the WCL West Division series.

The Knights (15-11, 14-11 WCL) lost solo possession of first place in the West Division of the West Coast League with their fourth loss in their last five games. They dropped into a three-way tie for first with the Elks (14-11) and idle Cowlitz (13-10).

Bend scored three runs in the first inning off starter Mitch Patito and never trailed thereafter. The Knights drew within 3-2 in the second and 4-3 in the sixth, but each time the Elks responded to reestablish a comfortable lead.

Bend put the game away by scoring five runs with two outs in the sixth. The key blow was a bases-loaded triple by Tyler Christian, who also doubled and had five RBIs to lead Bend's 12-hit attack.

Oregon State's Ryan Dunn also had two RBIs and Royce Bollinger had three hits and two RBIs for Bend, which survived five errors.

The series concludes at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday at Vince Genna Stadium. Left-hander Dylan Stuart (2-0, 0.00), who struck out 10 in six innings of a 1-0 victory at Kitsap on June 29 in his last start, is the Knights projected starter, opposed by righty Jason Wilson (1-2, 2.73) for the Elks.

The Knights then head for Kelowna, British Columbia on Wednesday. They'll start a three-game series with the Falcons on Thursday night.

The Knight' next home game is July 11 against Kitsap. It's a $1 Hot Dog Night and an Emmons Meat Market Miser Monday; $3 general admission coupons are available at the store, located east of Corvallis on Highway 34.
