Knights fall 12-11 in series finale at Klamath Falls.

Third baseman Kevin Kline (pictured) had three hits and four RBIs but Corvallis lost 12-11 to the Gems on Saturday in a slugfest at Kiger Stadium.

Kline, who also walked twice to reach safely five times in six plate appearances, leads the WCL with 28 RBIs. He upped his average to .368, fourth-highest in the WCL.

The Knights scored twice and had the bases loaded with two outs in the ninth, but designated hitter Jackson Soto lined out to the warning track to end the game.

The loss ended a five-game winning streak for the Knights (18-11 all, 16-11 WCL) and snapped a two-game tailspin for the Gems (8-15). Corvallis remained in first place in the South Division, one game in front of Medford and Bend.

The Knights trailed 6-1 early but rallied to take an 8-7 lead heading into the last of the seventh. However, two hit batsmen and two walks helped the Gems score five times for a 12-8 lead they would not relinquish.

First baseman Dalton Kelly homered for the third straight game and stretched his hitting streak to five games, a span in which he has three homers and seven RBIs. A West Albany High School graduate, Soto doubled, singled, drove in two runs and extended his hitting streak to seven games in a row.

Left fielder Scott Quinlan and right fielder Tim Rausch each doubled, singled and drove in a run. Center fielder Grant Melker added two hits and two runs for the Knights.

The Knights are idle on Sunday, their first off day since June 10. They begin a three-game set with South Division rival Medford at Goss Stadium at 6:40 p.m. Monday.
