Corvallis edges AppleSox 3-2, sweep WCL East-leading Wenatchee at Goss Stadium.

Frosh outfielder David Andriese (pictured) of UC Riverside went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

In the Knights' shortest game of the season (2:02 hrs), Kyle Kraus of University of Portland tossed seven innings and struck out 7 to improve his record to 4-0.

Kraus allowed two solo home runs.

Southpaw Matt Boyd of OSU tossed a scoreless eighth and closer Mitch Patito of UC Riverside slammed the door in the ninth to register his fifth save of the season.

Andriese led the offense with RBI doubles in the second and fourth innings.

"I think we're just getting in the groove, trying to get used to each other and I think we're just finally putting it together, getting some hits," said Andriese.

"It feels good to help contribute to the team. I'm just trying to help the team win, so it feels good."

Third baseman Danny Hayes of OSU went 2-for-4.

The Knights played errorless baseball and made several outstanding plays in the field.

Corvallis earned its first sweep of the season, improved its WCL record to 11-8 and extended its win streak to 5. WCL East-leading Wenatchee dropped to 11-7.

The Knights hit the road for a single game in Longview, Washington on Friday vs. the expansion Cowlitz Black Bears, and then return for a three-game home series with Bellingham that starts Saturday night.

Saturday is OSU Federal Credit Union Fireworks Night. The start time is 7:05 pm.

NOTE: The 2nd annual Fire vs. Police charity softball game held prior to tonight's Knights' game was won by the Fire Department and raised $320 for MDA and the Special Olympics. The game featured ex-Knights' catcher Adam Hackstedt (2005) who is a rookie cop for the CPD. Hackstedt collected two hits.
