Knights waste masterful performance by Sam Gaviglio. Bells rally to beat Knights 2-1.

Frosh All-American Sam Gaviglio of OSU tossed 7 scoreless innings and got a no decision as Bellingham scored late to take game two of the series.

Corvallis right-hander Sam Gaviglio debuted Saturday night at Joe Martin Stadium in Bellingham and stifled the Bells over 7 innings giving up only 4 hits while walking none and striking out 5. Gaviglio threw 82 pitches and 60 were strikes.

The Knights left 11 men on base and had several chances to separate from the scrappy Bells.

Former Oregon State pitcher Alex Besaw of Skagit Valley College tossed six innings and only allowed one run.

Catcher Matt Parker collected the Knights' only RBI as the sophomore from San Diego State plated a run with a bases loaded fielder's choice ground out.

Junior reliever Chad Jones of George Fox was saddled with the loss as Jones gave up a run in the eighth and another in the ninth.

Oregon State catcher Mike Chiarelli delivered the game-winner with a suicide squeeze in the ninth off Knights' reliever Kyle Kraus of University of Portland.

The Bells win sets up a rubber game Sunday at 4:00 pm at Joe Martin Stadium.

Sophomore James Nygren of Oregon State is the probable starter.
