Corvallis extends win streak to 9 by blanking Kelowna 1-0. Orozco, Rue and Starr combine to shutout Falcons.

Eddie Orozco (pictured) of UC Riverside earned the win tossing 6 innings of six-hit baseball. Setup man Ben Rue of Concordia pitched two scoreless innings holding the lead.

Rue handed the ball over to Taylor Starr of Oregon State to shut the door in the ninth. Starr did just that in impressive fashion to earn his 4th save. Starr has struckout 10 over his last 4 appearances and 4 innings pitched, all saves. Taylor leads the Knights in appearances with 10 and lowered his ERA to 2.13.

With the win, Corvallis improves to 17-7 overall and 16-6 in League (the WCCBL's top mark).

The Knights' pitching staff came into the game with a league low ERA of 2.18. Corvallis also leads the league in team defense with a .973 fielding percentage.

Orozco was masterful allowing 6 hits while walking none and striking out 3. The frosh from Riverside, California lowered his ERA to 0.45 and raised his won/loss record to 2-0.

The game's lone run was scored in the seventh-inning. Outfielder Logan Lotti, a junior-to be at Oregon State, led off with a single. He went all the way to third on an errant pick-off attempt by Andrew Wilding of University of Utah. Lotti would score the game-winner on a one-out sacrifice fly by Adam Melker of Cal Poly. The RBI was Melker's first of the seaosn.

Wilding, the hard luck loser, pitched a gem allowing only 4 hits and no earned runs while walking none and striking out 9.

Kelowna's Tony Nix of UC Riverside flew out 4 times to Lotti in rightfield.

With the victory and Kitsap's loss to Bellingham on Tuesday night, the Knights first place lead in the West is now 4 games.

Corvallis looks to take the series on Wednesday night as Ryan Platt of UC Riverside takes the mound for the Knights.
