Corvallis wins first WCL series. Knights beat Black Bears 8-3 to sweep two-game set.

Outfielder Daniel Dillard (pictured) blasted a two-run home run and delivered another game-winning hit. Dillard broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run single, his second game-winning knock of the series.

Later in the game the junior from Western Oregon hammered a two-run homer to put the Knights up 7-1.

In his Knights' debut, Dean McArdle of Stanford pitched 5 innings to earn the win.

Eric Young of Riverside CC and Matt Boyd of OSU also made their pitching debuts. Young tossed one inning and gave up a run while Boyd pitched two scoreless innings to close out the game.

Frosh right-hander Aaron Corwin of Feather River College replaced McArdle in the sixth and tossed a scoreless frame.

Second baseman JK Dykes of Washington State made his Corvallis debut and delivered two RBI ground outs.

Dykes and shortstop Justin Viele of Santa Clara played stellar defense for the Knights.

The Knights have two days off before resuming WCL action on Tuesday at Goss Stadium. It's the team's home opener.

Corvallis is matched up with division rival Bend, and Dylan Jones of Oregon State is the Knights' probable starter.
