Duffin's four RBIs lead Knights to sweep of Gems.

Joe Duffin (pictured) of UC Santa Barbara homered, doubled and drove in four runs as the Knights thumped Klamath Falls 12-3 Sunday in their regular-season finale.

Corvallis (37-17 WCL, 42-17 all) won its final 10 games of the regular season to win the Southern Division championship by seven games over second-place Medford and Bend. It was their seventh straight regular-season division title.

Corvallis will open the best-of-3 South Divisional playoff series at Medford on Tuesday. Game 2 is at Goss Stadium at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday; if necessary, Game 3 will be played at Goss at 6:40 p.m. Thursday.

Bend lost 14-12 to Walla Walla on Sunday, its sixth consecutive setback. That enabled idle Medford to move into a second-place tie to clinch the other South Division playoff berth. Medford held the tiebreaker because it won the season series over the Elks, 4-2.

The Knights scored five times in the seventh to erase a 3-1 deficit and added six more in ninth to break the game open. Duffin's three-run homer capped the final rally.

Dane Lund added two hits and an RBI for the Knights.

First-place Walla Walla will face Wenatchee in the best-of-3 North Division playoffs, starting on Tuesday at Wenatchee. Game 2 is Wednesday in Walla Walla, as is Game 3 on Thursday, of necessary.

The best-of-3 WCL Championship Series will start Aug. 17 at Wenatchee or Walla Walla. Aug. 18 is a travel day; Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be Aug, 19 and 20 at Medford or Corvallis.

Pitchers Stephen Nogosek, Chris Bishop and Brandon Choate combined to limit the Gems (25-29) to six hits and combined for nine strikeouts. Bishop (5-2) got the win and Choate earned his fifth save.
