Knights crush Capitols 15-5 in nonleague finale.

Cameron Bishop's bases-loaded triple capped an eight-run, seventh-inning rally as Corvallis whipped the Salem Capitols 15-5 in their nonleague finale.

Bishop's (UC Irvine) drive to the wall in left-center made it 9-5 and he scored on an overthrow for a 10-5 lead. The Knights added three more runs in their highest-scoring inning of the summer.

The Knights (26-11 all, 19-11 WCL, 1-2 second half) pounded out nine extra-base hits in completing a season-sweep of Oregon Collegiate Baseball League opposition. They were 7-0 against all nonleague foes.

Taylor Travess (Mt. Hood) had a double, two singles, an RBI and three runs. Matt Kelly (Portland), Zak Taylor (Oregon State) and Andrew Reichenbach (George Fox) each doubled twice; Taylor scored four times.

Bishop and Greg Saenz (Grand Canyon) had two hits apiece. Every player in the starting lineup either hit safely, scored or drove in a run.

Corvallis resumes WCL play at Walla Walla at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop (1-2, 0.52) will start for the Knights. The series continues on Wednesday and Thursday.

The next home game for the Knights is a 6:40 p.m. Friday matchup against Cowlitz.
