Knights come from behind to beat Moses Lake 6-3 to take series and improve League mark to 14-6.

Junior-to be Josh Hogan (pictured) at University of Oregon was stellar in the field and went 2 for 4 with a two-run double. After allowing three runs in the first, Knights' starter James McLaughlin of San Diego State settled down and posted six consecutive zeros to earn the win in the Knights' 6-3 victory over the Moses Lake Pirates in front of a crowd of 578.

"Our defense is coming around," third baseman Doug Cherry of Washington said. "When you make non-routine plays it lifts up the team as a whole. It is nice to be on the turf because once you take one ground ball you know where the rest are going to be."

Down 3-0 early, the Knights got hot in the third. Catcher Ian Bridges of Sonoma State singled to lead off the inning. Riverside CC's Richie Jimenez followed with a single of is own before Cherry singled up the middle scoring Bridges from second. On the play, Jimenez advanced to third and Cherry to second on the throw home.

Josh Hogan of Mt. Hood CC then doubled high off the leftfield wall scoring both Jimenez and Cherry. After stealing third, Hogan scored on a groundout by Sierra College's Logan Lotti. With only one out, the Knights weren't done as Billy Clontz of Mt. Hood CC singled to center and scampered to third on a single by Cal Poly's Adam Melker. Clontz would score on an unsuccessful steal attempt by Melker.

"We put together a big inning when the bats caught fire in the third," Knights' head coach Brooke Knight said. "Early in the game we were able to move runners over and it paid off for us."

Corvallis held their 5-3 lead on the shoulders of their strong defense and bullpen. Up the middle, Hogan turned two special doubleplays.

"Hogie has been consistent," said Knight. "We always feel confident with Hogie out there and he is going to give you his all."

The Knights put up an insurance run in the eighth. Melker reached base on a single to center and scored on a double to left-center by designated hitter Alex Burg of Washington State. Burg went 2 for 4 with a RBI. Melker went 2 for 3.

Another strong defensive performance was turned in by Cherry. In the sixth inning, Cherry dove early for a ball headed his direction. He snared it directly next to the bag at third, and then turned and threw a strike from his knees to get the first out of the inning and prevent a possible double down the line.

Greg Bobnick of Western Oregon threw the eighth in relief of McLaughlin and recorded three fly outs.

David Stilley of Washington State wrapped up the game earning the save with his one inning of scoreless ball.

Corvallis improves to 15-7 overall and 14-6 in the WCCBL.
