Knights take series, beat AppleSox 14-2 at Goss before crowd of 890.

Catcher Corey Davis (pictured), a junior-to-be at Wright State, went 4-for-5 with a home run and 3 RBI.

Davis also threw out two would-be Sox base stealers as Corvallis extended its win streak to four games and improved its WCL record to 10-8.

"It felt pretty good tonight. When we played at Moses Lake I had a rough game. I wanted to redeem myself, that's what Coach Knight told me before the game and it boosted my confidence that he believed in me again, so that helped me a lot," said Davis

Knights' starter Evan Brock of UC Irvine tossed five scoreless innings to earn the win. Brock gave up two hits, walked four and struck out 5.

Corvallis got on the board early scoring a run in the first as second baseman JK Dykes of Washington State singled to open the game, stole second and scored on a two-out single by designated hitter Michael Blake of Mt. Hood CC.

The Knights scored four runs in the fifth inning to go up 5-0. The big hit was a two-run triple by frosh outfielder Mitch Haniger of Cal Poly.

After scoring two more runs in the sixth, Corey Davis blasted a two-run homer over the rightfield fence to break the game wide open.

Junior outfielder Dylan Jones of OSU collected two RBI with two sacrifice fly outs.

Returnee Dustin Emmons of UC Riverside made his 2010 season debut tossing two innings and allowing one run.

Corvallis has now won three straight WCL series.

The Knights look for their first sweep of the season Thursday night.

Before Thursday night's game, the Corvallis Fire Department and Corvallis Police Department are playing a charity softball game at Goss starting at 5 pm benefiting MDA and Special Olympics. Gates open at 4:30 pm and all tickets sold between 4:30 pm and 5 pm are being donated to MDA and Special Olympics.

You can catch the series finale with the AppleSox on KEJO 1240 AM. Mike Parker and Jason Schwartz call all the action.
