Knights rout Bells 14-3, move into top spot in South.

Cody Lenahan (pictured) had three hits and three RBIs and Corvallis moved into first place in the Southern Division on Tuesday with a 14-3 victory at Bellingham.

The Knights (24-14, 21-14 WCL) evened the series in a blowout that was a polar opposite of Monday's opener. The Knights made six errors in a 4-3 loss in that game; Bellingham repaid the favor on Tuesday by committing five errors and throwing seven wild pitches, leading to nine unearned runs.

Corvallis assumed first place in the South by -game over Bend when the Elks (20-14) lost 16-8 to Klamath Falls. The Knights have surged ahead by winning nine of their last 11 WCL games, 11 of 13 games overall, and 8 of their last 9 series.

Lenahan, selected to the All-Star Game on Monday, has six hits in the series. Chris Rabago and Peter Van Gansen each had two hits and two RBIs to pace a 13-hit attack.

The Knights scored once in the first and then exploded for six runs in the second to build an insurmountable 7-0 lead. Lenahan had a two-run single, Gabe Clark and Van Gansen had RBI singles and Blake Drake added a sacrifice fly to key the rally.

Bellingham (18-16) drew within 7-2 after three inning but the Knights scored six more in the fourth to end all doubt. Rabago's two-run single was the big hit.

Corvallis starter Elliot Surrey labored through 5.2 innings for his third win in four decisions. He allowed 11 hits and three walks, but stranded 12 runners before giving way to Sean Eberhardt, who finished up for his first save.

Bellingham starter Jake Paulson (1-3) had a forgettable night before a franchise-record crowd of 2,766. He allowed nine runs in 3.1 innings and contributed to his own demise with five wild pitches and three walks.

The series concludes at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday; righty Alex Nesbitt (1-0, 2.63) makes his first start for the Knights. They host the Mid-Valley Rockets American Legion team on Thursday night.
