Knights beat Cowlitz 5-2 in Black Bears inaugural WCL game at David Story Field.

Kyle Kraus (pictured) of UP tossed 7 solid innings to record his second win of the season. Kraus allowed 5 hits and two runs while striking out 5 to improve his record to 2-0.

John Pecoraro of San Diego State pitched two scoreless innings to earn his first save.

Knights' newcomers Dylan Jones of Oregon State, Miles Kizer of Washington and Justin Viele of Santa Clara all collected two hits in their 2010 summer debuts.

Corvallis as a team banged out 13 hits with outfielder Michael Blake of Mt. Hood CC leading the way with three singles to improve his batting average to .455.

Junior catcher Miles Kizer got Corvallis on the scoreboard in the fourth with a two-out RBI single to left that scored outfielder Daniel Dillard of Western Oregon. Dillard stole second base with two outs to get in scoring position.

Designated hitter Corey Davis tied the score 2-2 with a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth.

The Knights would take its first lead in the next inning as Dillard singled home the game-winning run.

From there, Kraus and Pecoraro held Cowlitz scoreless to give Corvallis its first series opening win of the season.

Corvallis played flawless defense. Shortstop Matt Duffy of Long Beach State and second baseman Viele shined making several outstanding plays.

The Black Bears and Knights get right back after it on Saturday night as right-hander Dean McArdle of Stanford is expected to make his Knights' debut as the frosh from Sioux City, Iowa is scheduled to start.

Note: Ex-Knights' second baseman Josh Hogan was coaching first base for the Black Bears. Tonight's game was Cowlitz's first WCL contest. 817 were in attendance on a cold night.
