Knights earn hard fought series win vs. AppleSox with 4-3 victory.

Blake Keitzman of OSU tossed six solid innings to improve his record to 3-0. With the win, Corvallis improves to 24-12 overall and 17-10 in league. The Knights are one game behind West leading Kitsap (18-9) and two games ahead of Bend (15-12).

The series victory was the Knights first vs. Wenatchee as WCCBL members.

Corvallis collected 12 hits. Five Knights had two hits including Brett Casey of OSU, Nick Akins of Riverside CC, Drew Garcia of UC Riverside, Clayton Shaw of UP and Josh Hogan of Mt. Hood CC.

Hogan drove in his team leading 15th and 16th runs.

Daniel Bibona of UC Irvine earned his first save tossing two scoreless frames to close out the AppleSox.

Starting centerfielder Braden Wells of OSU was hit in the eye with a baseball while trying to bunt. He is day-to-day. The Knights hope to have both Wells and catcher Erik Ammon (hamstring) of OSU back in a week.

The Knights play a non-league game Monday night at Goss before enjoying a couple days off (WCCBL All-Star break). The team heads North for a six-game WCCBL road trip starting Thursday at Elks Stadium in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Matt Way and Jim Murphy of Washington State, Mike Koons and JR Murphy of San Diego State and Matt Wyckoff of George Fox are representing Corvallis at the 2007 WCCBL All-Star Game Tuesday, July 17 at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham, Washington.
