"I was just seeing the ball well and just kind of working on stuff with coach over last few weeks and it's starting to show in the game so it felt good," said Boyd.
"Right now the goal is obviously to clinch the first spot with a win and then after that carry our momentum.
"We're playing good baseball so we want to carry that into the playoffs."
The Knights bats came alive early, scoring 7 runs in the second inning to take a 8-0 lead vs. the Dukes of the WCL Portland.
Corvallis banged out 20 hits as a team and played errorless ball.
Catcher Miles Kizer of UW went 3-for-4 with two doubles and 2 RBI.
Reliever Alex St. Pierre of Lewis & Clark College pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win.
Eric Young of RCC started for the Knights and tossed two scoreless frames.
Matt Duffy of Long Beach State and Griffin Boyd of Mt. Hood CC made their pitching debuts. Duffy pitched one scoreless inning and Boyd allowed one run over an inning.
Pitcher Dustin Emmons of UCR, John Pecoraro of San Diego State and Nick Hoover of UCI all got at bats. Emmons was hit and scored the Knights' 20th run on a triple by Dylan Jones of OSU.
With the victory, the Knights went 6-0 in non-league play this summer and improved their overall record to 35-16.
Corvallis resumes WCL action tomorrow night vs. Walla Walla. Game time is 6:35 pm.
The Knights can capture a fourth consecutive WCL West crown with a win vs. the expansion Sweets.
