Corvallis beats All-Stars 12-5.

Birthday boy Andy Cosgrove of Washington (pictured) celebrated with two hits including a double as the Knights edged the OCBL All-Stars 12-5.

Cosgrove's single to lead-off the 7th started a two-run rally to put the Knights in front 6-5, a lead they would not relinquish as right-handers Branden Cutsforth of Treasure Valley CC and Caleb Henry of Corban pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings, respectively.

Five Knights had multiple hit nights including future Beaver Nick Madrigal who went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI.

Shortstop Clayton Fisher of UC Santa Barbara went 3-for-5 with a double, a RBI and three runs scored; designated hitter Michael Farris of UC Riverside blasted two triples and knocked in three runs; and right fielder Cole Kreuter of UC Irvine went 2-for-3 with a double. Second baseman Christian Donahue of Oregon State collected two RBIs.

Reliever Merrick Patito of Chaffey College earned the win in relief.

With the victory, Corvallis closed out its non-conference schedule without a defeat, going 6-0 and improving its overall record to 31-20.

The Knights drew 2,389 fans on Mario Pastega Cap Night, the last Friday evening game of the season at Goss Stadium. The attendance was helped by a pre-game concert featuring Archer's Rise put on by HOPE 107.9 FM.

It was a sweltering 102 degrees at the start of the concert and the mercury read 100 degrees at first pitch.

Corvallis returns to West Coast League play tomorrow at Walla Walla. You can catch all the action on KEJO 1240 AM as Mike Parker calls the play-by-play. Start time is 7:05 pm.

The Knights' West Coast League mark is 25-20, which is tops in the wild card race. The Sweets are 21-23 and hope to gain ground on the Knights in the three-game series at Borleske Stadium August 1-3.
