Wenatchee completes sweep of Knights, 4-2.

Shortstop Marc Gallegos of Corban College tripled, singled, scored once and drove in a run for the Knights in the loss at Wenatchee.

Second baseman Tyler Campbell and catcher Dane Lund added doubles, but the Knights left nine runners on base and suffered their third loss in a row, by a total of four runs.

The AppleSox (7-2 WCL) touched Corvallis (4-4, 4-4 WCL) starter A.J. Burke for three runs in the second inning and never looked back. The Knights scored twice in the third on an RBI triple by Gallegos and an RBI double by Dane Lund but couldnt score again.

Wenatchee added an insurance run in the sixth and reliever Lawrence Chew protected the 4-2 lead for the save. He allowed just two hits in four shutout innings in relief of starter and winner Beau Kerns. They combined for nine strikeouts.

Earlier Sunday, the Knights announced the signing of pitcher Trevor Frank, a junior right-hander from UC Riverside. A three-year letterman, the 6-foot, 175-pound native of El Cajon, Calif., was 2-8 with a 4.63 ERA for the Highlanders in 2012.

Junior infielder Nate Roberts of Seattle University and freshman pitcher Bryan Granger and freshman outfielders Alex Michaels and Nick Torres of Cal Poly are also expected the join the Knights on Monday, when they begin a two-game series at Cowlitz.

Kyle Hart (0-1, 11.25) and Rob Dittrick (1-0, 2.53) are the projected starting pitchers against the Black Bears. Corvallis opens a three-game home series with Walla Walla on Wednesday night. The Knights will have played eight of their first 10 games on the road by the time they return to Goss Stadium to meet the Sweets.
