Corvallis takes series with 7-2 win over Cowlitz.

Frosh outfielder Mitch Haniger (pictured) of Cal Poly homered and doubled to lead the Knights.

On Paint the Park Pink Night presented by Fitzpatrick Painting, Corvallis scored five runs in the first inning powered by Louisville Slugger pink bats.

Mitch Haniger capped an early uprising with a three-run homer with the pink lumber.

Outfielder Michael Blake, a junior-to-be at Hawaii, delivered the game-winning hit with a single to center scoring shortstop Justin Viele of Santa Clara, who went 2-for-3 on the night and reached base 4 times safely.

Designated hitter David Andriese of UC Riverside followed with a RBI single and then Haniger blasted his homer over the leftfield fence to give Corvallis the early 5-0 lead.

Reliever Ross Pomerantz of Occidental College picked up the win in relief, holding Cowlitz to one run over 3 1/3 innings pitched while allowing two hits and striking out 3.

Blake pitched the ninth to close things out.

With the victory, Corvallis improves to 19-14 in the WCL and 23-14 overall.

The Knights look to sweep the Black Bears on Wednesday. Game time is 6:35 pm.

You can catch the series finale on KEJO 1240 AM. Mike Parker and Jason Schwartz call all the action.

NOTE: The Knights lost starting pitcher Evan Brock of UC Irvine to injury. Pitcher Alex St. Pierre of Lewis & Clark College replaces Brock on the roster.
