Allen drives in game-winner, Knights back in first place.

Third baseman Jimmy Allen's (pictured) two-out single drove in the winning run in the ninth inning and Corvallis defeated Kelowna 6-4.

The Knights (18-12, 16-12 WCL) clinched the series and won their second game in a row after coming to British Columbia on a four-game losing streak. They also moved back into first place in the West Division when Bellingham knocked off Bend 5-2; Corvallis leads the Elks by one-half game.

Corvallis scored twice in the ninth to snap a 4-4 deadlock. Trent Oleszczuk worked a leadoff walk and moved to third on a sacrifice and a groundout. He scored when Allen bounced a single over the third baseman into left field.

A Sean Myron single and throwing error moved Allen to third. He scored an insurance run on David Armendariz's single, and reliever Scott Schultz protected the lead with a scoreless but drama-filled bottom of the ninth.

Kelowna (8-21) loaded the bases with two outs on an error, a hit batsman and a single before Schultz got the final out on a force play at second to earn his second win in three decisions. He allowed one unearned run in three innings of relief of starter Chris Johnson, who surrendered three first-inning runs but them stymied the Falcons for the next five innings.

The newest Knight, catcher Ryan Gorton, doubled twice. Corey Moore had three hits and an RBI and Corey Davis hit a two-run double in the fifth inning to get the Knights back in the game.

The Knights squandered several early scoring chances before breaking through for four runs in the fifth. Armendariz singled, Gorton doubled, and Davis doubled both home to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Mitch Patito walked, and both moved up on a sacrifice bunt. Davis scored to tie the game 3-3 on Moore's infield single. Patito, who advanced to third on the play, scored to put the Knights up 4-3 on Kramer Scott's fielder's choice.

Johnson allowed three runs in the first inning and then settled down to retire 14 of the next 15 Falcons in order. He struck out five, walked one, and one of the two runners he allowed between the second and sixth innings was caught stealing.

Schultz pitched a scoreless seventh but the Falcons scored an unearned run in the eighth to tie. He struck out three and walked one.

The series concludes at 6:35 tonight. Kyle Hart (2-0, 1.93) will make his first start for the Knights, opposed by Ethan Miller (0-2, 4.23).
