Pippins knock off Knights 4-3 in 11 innings, win series.

Clay Fisher's (pictured) two-run single gave Corvallis an early 2-0 lead but Yakima Valley rallied for a 4-3, 11-inning win on Saturday to take the series 2-1.

Yakima Valley scored the winning run with two outs in the 11th. A one-out error put Alex Guenette on first. A groundout advanced him to second and pinch-runner Darrion Simons scored on a bloop single by Jace VanDeBrake.

Yakima Valley (20-16) took a one-game lead over the Knights (24-17 all, 19-17 WCL) in the WCL's wild-card playoff race by winning the final two games of the series in its last at-bat. It rallied for three runs in the ninth on Friday and prevailed 4-3 in Game 2. Corvallis won Thursday's opener 2-1.

Corvallis starter Alex Nesbitt (Washington) allowed two earned runs in six innings of a no-decision. He struck out four, gave up seven hits and did not issue a walk.

Fisher (UC Santa Barbara) had the only RBIs for Corvallis. Nick Madrigal (Oregon State in 2015-16) added two singles and Cameron Bishop (UC Irvine) doubled.

The Knights are idle on Sunday. Pitcher Slater Lee (Cal Poly) and infielder Michael Farris (UC Irvine) will participate in the WCL All-Star Game in Bellingham on Monday. Lee is on the South team; Farris will compete in the Home Run Derby.

Corvallis resumes WCL play at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in the opener of a three-game series against Cowlitz at Goss Stadium.
