Knights beat Bellingham 4-1 before sold-out crowd of 2,930 at Goss Stadium.

Nick Hoover (pictured) of UC Irvine earned his second consecutive win in relief as the right-hander tossed 3 innings of scoreless ball and struck out 5.

Hoover is now 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 9 1/3 innings pitched.

Starter Matt Boyd of OSU was effective pitching four innings and allowing only one unearned run while striking out 6.

Closer Mitch Patito of UC Riverside twirled the final two innings striking out 4 as the Knights' staff held the Bells to only three hits and punched out 15 before a festive sellout crowd of 2,930 at Goss Stadium.

Patito registered the save, his sixth of the season. This summer, Mitch has pitched 7 1/3 innings and struck out 11 while allowing no hits and no runs.

Frosh outfielder Mitch Haniger of Cal Poly led the offense going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a RBI and three stolen bases.

"This series is going to be real big because we've been playing well the last six or seven games, but we need to keep it going and get another series win or even a sweep," said Haniger.

"It feels pretty good. I think everyone finally knows each other and we're really geling as a team."

With the win, the Knights improved their league record to 13-8 and the Bells drop to 14-11.

Corvallis extended its win streak to 7 games and has now won 9 of its last 10 games.

The Knights and Bells face-off again on Independence Day at 1:35 pm.
