Bend rallies in 9th for 7-6 win, series sweep of Knights.

Right fielder Michael McAdoo (pictured) had two hits and two RBIs on Thursday but Corvallis fell 7-6 to the Elks, their sixth loss in a row.

The Knights blew a four-run lead in the last of the ninth and the deciding run scored on a two-out throwing error, their second miscue of the inning.

A freshman-to-be at UC Santa Barbara, McAdoo Jr.'s two-run double in the seventh inning gave the Knights a 5-1 lead. He also singled and stole a base; they were his first hits for the Knights.

Reliever Cory Nelson (Pacific Lutheran) retired the Elks in order in the eighth on 10 pitches and the Knights added an insurance run in the ninth to take a 6-2 lead. However, Nelson was replaced after just one inning by Ryan Walker (Washington State) and he could not close it out.

After retiring the first batter, Walker hit two batters, allowed three hits and was hurt by two errors in 2/3 of an inning.

Corvallis took a 3-1 lead on RBI singles by Michael Farris (UC Riverside) and Ryan Matranga (San Francisco) and a groundout by Emilio Alcantar (Linn-Benton). A sacrifice fly by Andy Cosgrove (Washington) scored the final run in the ninth.

Starter Slater Lee (Cal Poly) struck out four and allowed one run and six hits in five innings in his second outing against the Elks. He has allowed just one earned run in 11 innings, but has a no-decision in each start.

The Knights head to Medford on Friday for a weekend series with the Rogues at Harry & David Field. Their next home game is a Monday exhibition against the U-19 Colts, a touring Australian all-star team.
