Knights clinch South Division championship.

Cody Lenahan (pictured) ripped a bases-loaded triple and Corvallis clinched a seventh consecutive South Division title on Wednesday with a 7-1 win over Bend.

The Knights (38-17 all, 34-17 WCL) swept the Elks (30-21 WCL) and stretched their lead over Bend to four games, with three games remaining. Corvallis has won the South (formerly West) Division crown every season since relocating here from Gresham in 2007.

The Knights will open the best-of-3 South Division playoffs at either Bend or Medford on Aug. 13. Game 2 will be at Corvallis on Aug. 14; Game 3 (if necessary) would also be at Corvallis on Aug. 15.

A rising junior at Portland, Lenahan has 13 RBIs in his last six games to take the team and West Coast League lead, with 36. He's hitting .346 (9-26) in that span, with four extra-base hits.

"I'm just feeling really good with the bat," he said. "I'm seeing the ball well; any hitter can relate. When you are seeing the ball well, everything seems easy.

"Everything drops in for you. You get bloops, and everything goes your way. That's when baseball is fun."

Corvallis scored five times in the third inning to break open a scoreless game. Lenahan's triple was his third of the series; it gave the Knights a 4-0 lead and raised his average with the bases loaded to .800 (4-5).

He then scored on Kevin Kline's sacrifice fly. Corvallis wrapped up its sixth win in a row with two more runs in the eighth.

Lefty Elliot Surrey (5-1) gave up one run on five hits through seven innings to get the win. He struck out three and was backed defensively by three double plays. A rising sophomore at UC Irvine, he has allowed just two earned runs in 23 innings over his last three starts, an 0.78 ERA.

Oregon State freshman-to-be Kevin Flemer finished up with two scoreless innings. He has not allowed an earned run in 22.2 innings over his last 10 appearances.

The crowd of 1,104 raised the team's season total to 38,685 in 30 openings, the third-highest since the team moved to Corvallis for the 2007 season. The all-time record is 42,447, set in 2011.

The Knights conclude their regular-season home schedule at 7:15 p.m. Thursday with a Fireworks Night game against the Portland Lobos, a U-19 select team. Right-hander Jared Priestley (1-1, 5.14) of Oregon is Corvallis projected starter.
