June 13, 2008The Knights beat the BlueJackets 11-2 at Lobes Field in Silverdale. James McLaughlin of San Diego State tossed 6 1/3 innings to earn the win. The junior right-hander allowed only 2 hits and 2 runs (one earned) while striking out 5.
Corvallis erased a two-run deficit in the fifth and broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth on Billy Clontz's three-run homerun. Clontz, a Corvallis native, collected three hits and 4 RBI on the night.
Sophomore reliever Jerad Thompson of Mt. Hood CC pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless ball allowing no hits while striking out 5 to finish game two of the Knights' opening WCCBL three-game series with division rival Kitsap.
Junior catcher Alex Burg of Washington State made his first start for the Knights and delivered a double and solo homer.
Frosh first baseman Dean Green of Oklahoma State collected two hits including a triple in the ninth inning.
Frosh shortstop Richie Jimenez of Riverside CC went 3 for 5 with a double and two RBI.
Doug Cherry of University of Washington made his Knights debut and singled in the ninth.
Corvallis has now scored 9 runs in the 9th vs. Kitsap (4 last night and 5 on Friday night). The Knights have tallied 19 runs and banged out 29 hits in the first two games of the series.
