Allen has three hits, scores twice in loss to red-hot AppleSox.

Third baseman Jimmy Allen (pictured) of Cal Poly tripled, singled twice and scored twice for the Knights on Wednesday in an 11-6 loss at Wenatchee.

Catcher Dane Lund added three hits and two RBIs and left fielder Kramer Scott had three hits, a run and an RBI before a crowd of 1,099 at Paul Thomas Sr. Field.

Wenatchee (16-2) scored eight times in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie and won the West Coast League series, extending its East Division lead to eight games over second-place Walla Walla. The Knights (8-7, 7-7 WCL) fell into third place in the West Division.

Wenatchee bunched five hits and took advantage of two Knights errors, a hit batsman and a wild pitch as 13 batters came to the plate in the decisive fourth inning. Aaron DeGuires two-run double and Adam Nelubowichs two-run single were the big blows.

The Knights again couldn't capitalize on scoring opportunities, a pattern throughout the series, especially when the game was still competitive.

They had the bases loaded with no outs in the second inning of a scoreless game, but a double play on a line drive to center field and a groundout kept them off the scoreboard. They loaded them again with two outs in the third but again came away empty.

Corvallis finally broke through in the fourth on an infield single by Scott, an error, a steal and Lund's RBI single. The AppleSox responded with eight runs, however, to take control.

David Andriese, Trent Oleszczuk, David Armendariz, Scott and Lund had subsequent RBIs but the Knights never mounted a serious challenge.

Corvallis opens a four-game homestand at 6:40 tonight against Walla Walla at Goss Stadium. Lefty Dylan Stuart (0-0, 0.00) of UC Riverside is the projected starter for the Knights; Walla Wallas starter is undetermined.
