Knights suffer tough loss at Wenatchee. Sox beat Corvallis 2-1, snap Knights eight series WCCBL win streak.

Eddie Orozco (pictured) of UC Riverside struck out 10 Sox batters. The frosh right-hander tossed 5 innings, allowed two runs and suffered his first defeat of the season.

The Knights lost WCCBL MVP candidate Logan Lotti of Sierra College in the first inning as Lotti was hurt on a play at the plate on a single to center by University of Portland outfielder Bryant Kraus.

Corvallis also lost the series, its first series loss since dropping a road series to Spokane in June. But the toughest loss of the night was losing the team's best offensive player - Logan Lotti - for the season.

The Knights hope to fill Logan's shoes with the return of John Wallace of Oregon State and with recent call-up Kraus.

Kraus homered to lead-off the fourth, the Knights only run of the game, and Kraus' third homer of the season.

Bryant was tossed for arguing balls and strikes in the 9th and will have to sit out the Knights' first game vs. Bellingham on Friday.

Cody Fassold of Lower Columbia College threw the AppleSox second complete game of the series to earn the win. Jeremy Stutmetz of Gonzaga threw a complete game in the series opener. Tonight was Fassold's first WCCBL start of the season.

Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium was rocking as over 1,400 fans celebrated an AppleSox win after cheering with playoff passion throughout the game.

In the second inning, Wenatchee took advantage of a Corvallis throwing error. Dean Green, in his first start at third, made a hard charging play on a bunt, but threw wildly to first. The errant throw on the bunt single advanced runners to second and third. Wenatchee followed with a two-run single that proved to be the difference.

Skipper Brooke Knight started starting catcher Alex Burg at second base, starting first baseman Dean Green at third base and first baseman Kyle Stalker in leftfield as the Knights' rested key starters to prepare for the post-season.

Logan Lotti, a junior-to be at OSU, finished the season hitting .340 with 5 HR and 25 RBI. Lotti rested yesterday and was tonight's designated hitter.

The team wishes Logan the best and a quick recovery. Lotti has a bright future with the Beavers and was arguably the top offensive player in the WCCBL this summer.

Corvallis returns home to face Bellingham in a three-game series starting this Friday that wraps up the regular season.
