Knights outslug Bells. Corvallis beats Bellingham 9-8 at Joe Martin Stadium.

James Nygren (pictured) of Oregon State closed out the Bells recording a save in his Knights debut. Knights' relievers Trevor Smith of Linn-Benton CC and Nygren kept Corvallis in the game holding Bellingham scoreless from the sixth-inning on allowing the Knights to come from behind for the third time this season.

The Knights improved to 3-1 on the young campaign and registered their third one-run win thanks to a clutch two-out, 9th-inning, game-winning single by Pat Colwell of San Diego State.

Corvallis took an early 6-0 lead only to see Bellingham erase the deficit and take the lead 8-6 after five innings.

Both teams collected 13 hits.

The Knights were led by first baseman Taylor Ard who knocked in 4 runs and went 2-for-3 with a double.

Five Knights collected two hits including outfielder Dylan Jones of Mt. Hood CC, third baseman Billy Clontz of Western Oregon, Ard, second baseman Kyle Kraus of UP and shortstop Taylor Hunter of George Fox.

Ard scored Jones, who led off the sixth with a double, on a sacrifice fly and Hunter singled home a run in the seventh to tie the game at 8-8.

Corvallis went up 9-8 on a two-out RBI single by Colwell.

Nygren made his Knights debut in the ninth and closed out the Bells allowing only a single.

Frosh outfielder Brent Warren of OSU made his debut and collected his first hit as a Knight, a bunt single.

Freshman All-American Sam Gaviglio of Oregon State makes his debut tomorrow night as the right-hander from Ashland, Oregon is slated to start game two of the series.
