Corvallis bats get hot late, erase early 3-0 deficit to beat Falcons 12-6 and win 4th straight WCCBL series.

Logan Lotti (pictured), a junior-to be at Oregon State, went 4 for 5 with a homerun. Lotti woke up the Knights' bats with a lead-off homer, his third of the season, in the sixth-inning cutting Kelowna's lead to 3-2.

Lotti reached base in his first 5 plate appearances.

Corvallis native Billy Clontz of Mt. Hood CC followed Lotti's blast with a sharp single to center to start the Knights' six-run rally that would feature four consecutive well executed bunts.

Junior catcher Alex Burg reached first on a fielder's choice on the inning's first successful sacrifice bunt. Adam Melker of Cal Poly followed Burg's bunt with a sac bunt advancing Clontz to third and Burg to second.

Then came the game changing bunt compliments of junior first baseman Ian Bridges of Sonoma State. Bridges laid down a beautiful squeeze bunt scoring Clontz and when Falcons' starter Bryn Card was slow to throw to first, Burg never stopped and scored the play's second run when Card's throw was in the dirt to second baseman Riley Henricks covering. Bridges was safe and the Knights were suddenly ahead 4-3.

Second baseman Josh Hogan of Mt. Hood CC then laid down another perfect bunt for a base hit.

Shortstop Richie Jimenez then singled sharply to right loading the bases.

The Knights scored their 5th run on a wild pitch before Doug Cherry of University of Washington doubled to score two more runs and give Corvallis a 7-3 lead.

Jimenez, a sophomore-to be at Riverside CC, would go 4 for 5 with 2 RBI as the Knights collected 14 hits on the night after struggling offensively in the first two games of the series. Jimenez's two-run double in the 7th gave Corvallis a comfortable 9-3 lead. The Knights would go on to win the rubber game 12-6.

Bridges collected the game-winning RBI and three for the game as Ian scored two runners on his suicide squeeze bunt in the 6th.

Junior-to be Geoff Nichols of University of Oregon pitched two innings of scoreless ball to earn his first win. Nichols struck out 4 and kept the Falcons at bay. The right-hander from Portland, Oregon has struck out 13 over 7 appearances and 8 2/3 innings pitched and has yet to allow an earned run.

Micheal Cusick of Western Oregon pitched a scoreless ninth and struck out two in his first outing in two weeks. The junior-to be from Salem has been nursing a tender arm.

The series win is the Knights' fourth straight and improves the club's WCCBL mark to 17-7.

Corvallis travels to Bellingham to face the red hot Bells at Joe Martin Stadium in a three-game series starting Friday night. Bellingham swept Kitsap at home this week and took 2 of 3 from Bend at Vince Genna Stadium last weekend.

All three games will be broadcast on 990 AM The Legend. Mike Parker, the voice of the Knights, calls all the action.

Soph-to be Josh Osich of Oregon State is the Knights' probable starter for the series opener with Bellingham.
