Knights beat Southern Oregon Riverdogs 8-3 at Harry and David Field to win opener.
June 7, 2007The Corvallis Knights opened their six-game road trip with an impressive 8-3 win vs. the Southern Oregon Riverdogs in Medford, Oregon. Frosh right-hander Jerad Thompson tossed 7 solid innings to earn the win. Thompson allowed 6 hits, one run and no earned runs.
The offense collected 11 hits and was led by designated hitter Nick Akins of Riverside C.C. and leftfielder Jake Roy of Dakota Wesleyan. Akins doubled and scored the game's first run in the third. The frosh from Los Angeles went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI. His two-run single in the sixth started a six-run inning for the visiting Knights. The inning also featured a two-run double by second baseman Josh Hogan of Mt. Hood C.C. Roy went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and a triple.
First baseman Matt Wyckoff of George Fox also collected two hits going 2 for 2 and Hogan recorded 3 RBI.
