Reichenbach leads Knights over Hayesville, 3-0.

Catcher Andrew Reichenbach (pictured) singled twice, scored once and stole a base on Saturday night to lead Corvallis to a 3-0 victory over the Hayesville Hammers.

The Knights (13-7 all, 11-7 WCL) thus improved to 8-2 in their last 10 games by blanking the Hammers in the nonleague game at Goss Stadium. Hayesville plays in the Oregon Collegiate Baseball League; its players come primarily from Chemeketa Community College.

Starter Cody Hoff (Linn-Benton) allowed two hits in four innings. Relievers Branden Cutsforth (Treasure Valley), Thomas Lalli and Rylee Widell (Central Arizona) finished up. Altogether they allowed five hits, struck out eight and benefitted from two double plays.

Lalli fanned four of the six hitters he faced and got the win, as Hoff did not go the required five innings to figure in the decision. Widell tossed a perfect ninth for the save.

A senior-to-be at George Fox who was a all-Northwest Conference selection in 2016, Reichenbach was the only Knight with two hits.

The Knights scored their initial run in the third on doubles by Zak Taylor (Oregon State) and Taylor Travess (Mt. Hood CC). They tripled their lead in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Greg Saenz (Grand Canyon) and an RBI single by Cody Hawken (Portland).

The eight-game homestand continues at 6:40 p.m. Monday with the opener of a three-game West Coast League series with the Bellingham Bells at Goss Stadium. Lefty Aaron Pope (1-2, 2.87) of Dixie State will start for the Knights.

Saturday's crowd of 1,742 raised the yearly attendance to 12,798 for eight dates. That is 1,744 fans ahead of last year's record total of 49,443 through a corresponding number of openings.
