It was lucky number 13 for Corvallis vs. the Mid-Valley Rockets as the Knights banged out 13 hits and scored 13 runs before a Block 15 Thursday crowd of 1,830 at Goss Stadium.
Corvallis blasted three home runs as Duffin, Michael Lucarelli of University of Portland and Gus Craig of Columbia all went deep on a warm and muggy evening.
Jared Priestley of Oregon pitched four innings and allowed five hits and one run. Reliever Kevin Flemer, an Oregon State frosh-to-be, picked up the win as the right-hander pitched three scoreless innings and struck out 5.
With the non-league victory, the Knights improved their overall record to 25-15. Corvallis now has a five-day break before re-starting WCL action vs. Medford at home on Wednesday, July 24.
The WCL All-Star Game is up next for the Knights contingent of all-stars including center fielder Blake Drake of Concordia, catcher Dane Lund of San Jose State, third baseman Cody Lenahan of Portland, southpaw Devon Barker of Central Washington and reliever Brandon Choate of Tacoma CC. The League's mid-summer classic is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23 at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, British Columbia.
Joe Duffin is set to represent Corvallis in the WCL All-Star Game Home Run Derby.
