Kelowna salvages series finale, beats Corvallis 7-6.

Josh George of Cal Poly (pictured) led the Knights' offense going 2-for-4 with a home run.

First baseman Michael Farris of UC Riverside also added a solo home run, his team-leading 5th blast of the season.

The Knights scored four runs in the top of the third-inning to take an early 4-0 lead. Cameron Bishop of UC Irvine delivered the big blow, a three-run double.

Kelowna charged right back scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth off Knights' starter Gary Steindorf of Western Oregon.

From there, the Knights and Falcons traded solo homers with Farris homering in the 5th to make the score 5-3 Corvallis. Kelowna's Hunter Villanueva cut the deficit to 5-4 with his blast off reliever Cole Doherty of Portland in the bottom half of the inning. George put the Knights up 6-4 with his round-tripper in the top of the 6th.

Down 6-4, the Falcons rallied with another three-run inning in the bottom of the 7th as Kelowna took advantage of three walks and came up with three big hits off relievers Cole Doherty and Michael Martin of UC Irvine to plate the go ahead runs. Martin took the loss.

Kelowna salvaged the series finale and snapped the Knights six-game WCL win streak. With the loss, Corvallis WCL mark dropped to 30-21.

Corvallis will head home Friday and return to Goss Stadium for their final regular-season series vs. the Medford Rogues on Saturday and Sunday.

The Knights need one more win to clinch a wild card playoff berth, or one loss from both Victoria and Yakima Valley. Victoria starts a three-game series at Bellingham on Friday, and Yakima is at home for three vs. Wenatchee beginning tomorrow night.

Saturday's Pioneer & PEAK Internet Fireworks Night game starts at 7:15 pm. Gates open at 6 pm.
