Bend blanks Corvallis 1-0 before 1,063 at Goss Stadium to force game three in the West Divisional Series
August 11, 2009Kyle Kraus (pictured) of University of Portland tossed a complete game and was the hard-luck loser.
The Knights could not solve Peter Lavin, a junior-to be at University of San Franciso, as the lefty tossed a three-hit shutout.
Both Lavin and Kraus were effective and efficient as game two was played unrder two hours (1:55).
Bend scored in the seventh. Bobby Crocker of Cal Poly just beat Richie Jimenez's throw from deep short on a chopper over third baseman Doug Cherry's head for an infield single. Crocker then stole second and advanced to third on catcher Rocky Gale's throw that got past second baseman Josh Hogan. And Crocker scored on Garrat Queen's double down the leftfield line.
Game three is now set for Thursday, August 13th at Goss Stadium. Game time is 6:35 pm.
