Choate saves 6-5 win at Wenatchee for Landazuri.

Starter Angel Landazuri (pictured) allowed two hits and two runs in five innings for his first win as Corvallis tipped the AppleSox 6-5 on Wednesday.

A sophomore-to-be at UC Riverside, Landazuri had one strikeout and gave the Knights (11-8, 10-8 WCL) the quality start they needed to salvage the final game of their West Coast League series and to snap a three-game losing streak.

Tim Rausch, Kevin Kline, Kevin Farley, Joe Duffin, Grant Melker and Dane Lund had two hits each for the Knights. They had four doubles and 13 hits in the rematch of the 2012 and 2013 WCL Championship Series participants.

Reliever Brandon Choate allowed two inherited runners, and one of his own, to score in the eighth, when Wenatchee drew within 6-5. But he got two outs to strand the tying run at third base in the eighth and then retired the AppleSox in order in the ninth for his second save.

The Knights never trailed. Kline's RBI single made it 1-0 in the first and an RBI single by Melker made it 2-0 in the second. Lund's RBI single made it 3-0 in the fourth.

Wenatchee countered with two runs in the fourth, but successive doubles by Kline and Farley and a bases-loaded balk restored a 3-run lead in the fifth. Duffin's RBI double stretched the advantage to 6-2 in the sixth.
